Maintaining Your Skin

Skin CarePosted by kokobassey Fri, January 23, 2009 07:18PM

You inherit the type of skin you have for better or for worse. In maintaining your skin you need to first determine your skin type, if you suffer from any skin problem, try using our skincare products to enchance your good qualities.

The basic properties of skin are the same all over the world, and skin colour is genetically determined, although other factors affect the tone/colour is determined by these main factors.

Haemoglobin in the blood: an iron compound which carries oxygen round the body is red. It becomes blue when carring carbon dixiode. the effect of haemoglobin is more obvious in white than in black skin, which turns red in 'blushing', when the person is embrassed.

Carotene is a yellow pigment in fatty cells of the epidermis. it is the same pigment that is present in plants rich in Vitamin A, such as carrots.

Melanin is a brownish-black pigment manufactured and distributed by special cells of the epidermis, called melanocytes. They originally develop from the brain cells and is also present in the choroid of the eye.

The factor determining whether you are white, brown, balck or yellow is the activity of the melanocytes and the amount plus distribution of thier pigment.

Using Essential Oils For Well-Being

Essential OilsPosted by kokobassey Wed, January 21, 2009 10:51PM

My interest in essential oils comes from personal experience of their extremely effective therapeutic properties, both in treating physical ailments and also in calming emotional problems. Part of my work as an aromatherapist has provided me the opportunity to build an understanding of essential oils in a powerful way. Essential oils have aromas ranging from earthly herbal tones to floral tones and have been used to heal the body and spirit since ancient times.

Essential oils are products of a plant's metabolic processes. Each plant stores this oil in different part of its structure. The oil may be found in the petals, leaves, twigs, wood, roots and other areas There are different method by which the oil is extracted from the plant, depending on its distribution in the plant.

The most common technique used in extraction for essential oils is steam distillation. Citrus oils are extractedby expression. Other methods include enfleurage, solvent extraction and carbon dioxide extraction.

Aromatherapy May Help Dementia Patients

Research shows that aromatherapy could help elderly patients struggling with dementia. Drugs and sedatives prescribed to control the symptoms of Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia often have uncomfortable side effects. Psychiatrists said some types of complementary medicine work well and well tolerated by elderly patients.

"Aromatherapy and bright light treatment seem to be safe and effective and may have an important role in managing behavioural problems in people with dementia", said Alistair Burns, a professor of Psychiatry at the University of Manchester, England.

In an editorial in The British Medical Journal, he and his colleagues said three trials done in 2002 have shown the benefit of Aromatherapy, particularly the use of lemon balm and lavender oil, for dementia patients.

The oil contains compounds that are absorbed into the body and seen to improve some of the symptoms of the illness. also studies have shown that bright light therapy, which involves sitting in front of a light box, can ease the restlessness, sleeping and behavioural problems which accompany dementia, according to reseachers.

Professor burn said " people with dementia are among the most vulnerable in our society. Symptons often need to be treated expediently, and drugs, although moderately effective, can be hazardous.

Dementia, including Alzheimer's disease, is a global problem affecting about 18 million people worldwide, according to the World Health Organisation. The number of people with the disorder is expected to increase to 34 million in 25 years time.

My Journey

DiaryPosted by kokobassey Sun, January 18, 2009 10:49PM

I hope to share my experience with you in order to encourage and to inspire others. This is my journey !

I started my business eight years ago virtually from my tiny kitchen flat in London. What began as a hobby soon grew into a business, I made and sold my products at various market stalls. Working on a market stall was not easy, but I was out there come rain nor shine. In 2000, I secured a tenancy for a shop in South London. Four years later I decided to give up the shop, I took a step downward to revaluate my goals with the business.

I realise that I must get myself to a place where there is the greatness in my life, only then did everything begin to transform. I now understand that all my sufferings, problems, heartaches; obstacles are the stuff I needed to go through in order to become outrageously successful so that I can fulfil my dreams.

I value my own life, appreciate that life has nothing to do with anybody else validating me. I follow my heart and the effect from that, the benefit from that has been massive. It all started when I decided to become more focus on really, truly awakening to my greatness. Once I began focusing on valuing my life, then everything fell into place in a much bigger way. Today, I truly appreciate my life including my flaws, my accomplishments, my defeats and my losses, my victories, all that I have created and truly appreciate my talent as a costumer maker, an educator/ trainer, everything changed.

If you are thinking of starting something or have already started then you also have awakened to your greatness, do appreciate and value your life. Trust whole heartedly in the greatness of your life, therefore you will fulfil every one of your dreams for yourself. You will start to really appreciate everything about your life, all the things that make you incredibly unique and wonderful.
